About The Weekend
One Weekend, One Province, One Fight to End All Women's Cancers.
“While we were walking the 60kms we came across one family with a sign held by one little child that said, Thank You Walkers You Saved My Mommy” ~Perry Rockburn, Weekend Walker
Thanks entirely to YOUR efforts, in 6 short years, and a combined 11 incredibly successful Weekend events in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta Cancer Foundation has invested more than $22 million dollars into cancer care, treatment, and research throughout the province! Simply, the critical funds you have raised since the beginning is unprecedented. It’s historic. And the movement against women’s cancers has flourished into a life-changing, difference-making mission.
Now, we are evolving yet again. As our mission has already expanded to help all women, we are now asking the entire province to join our historic endeavour. Walkers, Crew, Volunteers, friends, family, in 2011 our journeys will finally merge as Alberta unites in ONE FIGHT TO END ALL WOMEN’S CANCERS! That’s right — Alberta is joining forces to take this unforgettable battle province-wide. With buses leaving from Lethbridge, Red Deer, Calgary, and Edmonton, the whole province can now unite in one fight to end all women’s cancers. We’re counting on each and every one of you to help lead the way and join us for the Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to End Women’s Cancers in Calgary July 23-24 2011!
Together we will multiply our impact, broaden awareness of our battle to end breast and gynecologic cancers, and accelerate our journey towards a cancer-free future for all Albertans.
One Weekend truly can make a lifetime of difference — join us as we embark and make your journey easier than ever in 2011! Earn $100 credits for reaching mini- fundraising milestones and referring new walkers. Start building your Weekend Circle For Hope and step by step you’ll achieve success and be able to join us in the provincial celebration next July.

The Walker Experience

the most remarkable feeling to cross that finish line after walking 60 kms & know that what you
have accomplished will make a difference in someone's life.” Mary Higgins, Weekend
Walker
For Walkers, the Weekend is an experience that begins the day you register
to participate. This is when you will receive your very own web page and have access to all
the tools available in your participant centre. This is when you’ll set your fundraising goal, start building your Circle for Hope, begin preparing for the physical challenge, and become a
true part of our Weekend Family.
As a member of this family, you’ll be an important advocate for as you raise money and spread awareness of the important work they are doing for all women. You’ll also have many opportunities to meet and network with other walkers when you attend Get In Step Sessions, Training Walks, Foot Clinics,
Pink Martini Nights, and much more!
